One more

I have one more final in 2 1/2 hours. Am I ready for it? Not really. Am I worried? Nope. Why you might ask? Because I simply don't care. It's finally starting to warm up and I just don't care to even show up for this test. I will, don't worry, but with the small amount of studying I've done, and the little I'll do in the next two hours, I'll be fine. I've gone to basically every class so I should be good, right? :)

In other news, Josh and I traveled down to 84604 yesterday so my brother's girlfriend could do my hair. We stopped off at Josh's for a quick hello and to run to the bank, and made it to Provo by 6:30. (we had to wait for the mail to come or we would have been there a lot sooner.) We got done with my hair around 11, went and gabbed with little Kelsey for a few seconds, stole my mom's vacuum and some toilet paper, and were off! We got to Logan sometime between 1:30 and 2 last night. I brushed my teeth for about 15 seconds and then collapsed into bed. Crazy day!

I don't know why I just told you all of that...I really should be studying...I got a 84% on my energy final. I'm pretty proud of it considering it's science, but for the amount of studying I did I was a little sad. However, I gave myself a pat on the back.

Keep posted for some new pictures soon. I had and adventure with the tree from *!$% the other day, and we got new couches. Both posts should be minutely humorous.

I woke up to snow...

this morning and I almost started to cry. To soothe myself I went down and checked facebook on our new couches. Pictures coming soon. I also showed up to work 40 minutes early so I turned back around and now I'm blogging on our new red couches. Time to go eat lunch and then back to work. I hate hate hate this weather.

My dad was born on Earth Day

It's Larry Herdman's birthday today. I wont tell you how old he is, but if you added up the two numbers in his age you'd get 12. (Hint: he's not 48 and he's not 66) If you've never met the man let me tell you a bit about him...

• He's Provo's Jack Bauer. Now, he's not as intense because Provo is not like Washington, but if given the chance he'd go on an adventure with Jack in a heartbeat and we wouldn't betray him. (Stupid Tony...)

7 months ago

Not that engagement anniversaries are a big deal but, today is our 7th monther! I totally missed our 6th month as well as our 4 month wedding anniversary. Oops. I'm afraid I'm bad with months. When we have kids I'll never know how old they are. I'm so impressed when you asked mom's how old their little ones are and they reply, "He'll be 5 1/2 months this Thursday." What?! I'll never be that mom. I aspire to be, but it will never happen.

Anyways, back to what I was saying. 7 months ago we got engaged. 7 months and 1 day ago I went on a hike with my siblings and shocked them when I told them that we were getting married. (that moment still makes me awkwardly laugh...) 7 months later I'm happy to report that life is great, and we will be getting new red couches on Friday. Now you people have no excuses to not come over. We will have places for you to sit! That's all I have to say. Actually no. I find it HILARIOUS that the Four Corners marker is off. I've never been, and now don't feel bad. Suckers! I love this weather and that school is almost over. Also, 60 people arrested in a prostitution bust in Utah? What is this world?! Married friends and Lacy's blog

Josh and I have finally made some married friends! Yesterday we were invited to a BBQ with two of his co-workers and their wives. We went to their house at 3 and stayed until 9. It was great! We've only had one other 'married friends attempt' and it turned out to be a slight disaster. 3 hours of Settlers of Catan made me realize that making friends with married people might be a little harder than when you were single. However, Josh's co-worker's wives were hilarious, and they plan on having many more BBQ's this summer. Yay for making friends!

This just in. lacy. got. a. blog. I don't know if anyone realizes how big of deal that is. I'm thrilled. I guess since she's stuck in Malad she has nothing better to do other than succumb to conformity. So Lacy, this is my official blog shout out to you. Welcome to the community!

I can't say it enough

Yesterday as we were taking the Brasc folks home, one of the participants (the one I usually have a millions of stories about for those of you who have heard them...) started singing The Spirit of God. She sings all the time but we've never sung a church song together. This sparked another kid singing I Love To See The Temple in the back seat. We sung both songs all the way through and then rewarded ourselves with a round of applause. I can't wait for summer program to start!

Smiths vs. Wal-Mart pt.2

It took me a little longer than anticipated, but I feel like I've come up with a pretty decent list of why I believe that Smith's is better than Wal-Mart in every way. These aren't in any specific order, but some of I like better. The ones I deem as better will be in bold. Enjoy.

1. Smith's is less crowded. You have less of the awkward cart running into situations that I always find myself in while shopping at Wal-Mart. You can look down the aisles and only see a few people. I walked to the back of Wal-Mart the other day, and didn't see a single aisle that had less than 2 carts on it.

2. The parking lot is smaller at Smith's. I've never forgotten where I park. I don't have to hunt for my car, and I don't have to fear for my life dodging the crazy Wal-Mart drivers. (no offense if you're one of them...)

3. I actually save more money at Smith's. I have a fresh value card, and at the check out I see the price get cut by at least 5%. Most of the time Smith's has sales (I'll discuss this more in depth in the #4) and on top of that I get 5% off. I LOVE looking at the bottom of the receipt and seeing how much I saved. Wal-Mart can't do this for me.

4. As I said, Smith's has SALES! I feel like Wal-Mart's "every day low prices" is a joke. If you compare the sales at Smiths to normal prices at WM (that is what I'm calling it from now on) they don't compare. Smiths' sales prices are usually the same, if not cheaper than WM, PLUS you get 5% off, PLUS you get 5 cents off gas! Example- recently Smith's has a sale on makeup. The mascera I always get ended up being $3 at Smith's but was almost $6 at WM. Really? Do I need to go on? :)

5. I like the fact that Smith's doesn't have clothing, shoes, plungers, paint, and tv's. I go to the grocery store to go grocery shopping. Now, I'll be honest, I love Target so this point isn't very strong, but there's something about WM...it will never be as cool as Target.

6.I don't like getting stopped at WM because they think I stole something. This is more a vent from today, but Josh and I apparently set off the door alarm today. The guy yelled at me to stop, people stared, we had to get our bags checked, it was awkward. That has never happened at Smith's.

7. The Redbox at Smith's always has more movies. (At least in Logan that is) Whenever Josh and I go to WM to get a movie, the one (or ones) we want aren't there.

8. Smith's has a self checkout as well as an express lane. Way faster if you only have a few things.

9. This is one that is mostly for Logan, but LOCATION! Smith's is located in the same shopping center as Inkley's and King's. You don't have a lot of traffic in the parking lot, and it's right by Jamba and Hastings WM is by Magical Moon Toys, which is cool, but I'm more likely to want a smoothie than a child's toy or a board game.

10. The last thing on my list is the produce section. I by fruits/veggies at WM and it goes bad in a few days. I've had the same apples from Smith's for over a week and they're still great! I feel like Smith's takes better care of their produce. It's not as banged up as their friends at WM.

11. Ok, so I was going to put this with #10, but it deserves it's own number. This is the reason that inspired me to write such a list. My number 1 reason to shop at Smith's is the thunder storm that happens every few minutes when they water the produce. I LOVE it! Have you heard it? Oh it's great. Sometimes I stand in the produce section for a few minutes longer than I need to, hoping I'll hear the thunder noise before the sprinkling shower turns on. I love it.

And those reasons my friends is reason enough for me to sing, "Smith's market fresh everyday Smith's!" (That should be #12. What a sweet jingle. Where's WM'S?)

*If you shop at WM I don't judge. I'll be honest, there are times where it is better to shop there. However, I didn't even touch on any of the political or overseas scandals that WM has gotten into. Again, I went to WM today, but I would have rather gone to Smith's.

I am so happy

I just realized I could register for fall about 6 minutes ago. I hopped on Banner, looked up some classes I needed, and 3 minutes later I was successfully in all of them. This made my whole month. Stuff like this never happens. The system crashes or freezes and once I finally get on, my classes are full. I wish you could understand how happy I am!!!

Smiths is better than Wal-mart

I would choose to go to Smiths over Wal-Mart any day. If you don't agree, I'm currently writing a list to prove my point. Stay tuned people. It will change your life.

Easter

Happy (late) Easter everyone! Josh and I had a great day. It started out in the nursery (which we had all to ourselves and loved it...). I taught the lesson, and asked the kids if they knew what today was. They all gave me blank stares (not uncommon for two year olds) and I asked if any of them had colored eggs, had an Easter egg hunt, or got an Easter basket. One little boy pipped in and started explaining how he had, when the little girl next to me gave me a huge look of concern and said, "I didn't do any of that!" It's not a fraction as funny typing it, but trust me- it was cute. After church we went to the Mangelson's and ate dinner and had an Easter egg hunt. It was great! Most of all though, Easter was great because of the true meaning behind it. There are all sorts of videos floating around from Holland's talk in Conference so I wont post it hear, but if you didn't catch it, check it out. His talk was by far my favorite this conference and probably in conferences from several years back. I loved loved loved it! Anyways, here are some pictures of our day.

Josh and I still need to color our eggs. Most of our eggs are from Josh's family's chickens so they're already colored, but we have a few that are boring and white. I'm not sure if Josh is super excited about coloring the eggs. When I told him we should do it this afternoon he responded, "But it's not dark yet!" I'm thinking he'll keep coming up with excuses and I'll have to do them myself. haha!

The new picture on my blog is to remind me that I must blog about Spring Break asap. I haven't posted any pictures of us in a while. I have some nice ones coming. Don't fret people, don't fret.

Also, I'd like to give a shout out to my sister Brooke. She's 25 today. She's a grandma. Love you Brookie!

I love everything about this

the list

I'm not sure if I would call this a 'to do list' or even a list of goals. It's just...a list.

1. Be in bed by 10:30 each day. We're in this horrible habit of staying up late and not doing anything productive. I thought that would end with the days in Pineview. Guess not.

2. Write more. I've kind of given up conventional journaling, and have moved word documents. I figure they'll last longer if I email them to myself/have a flash drive. The problem is is that I need to now actually do it.

3. Do random acts of service/kindness. Color Me Kate is so happy and she spreads her happiness to others. I want to me more like that.

4. Actually finish books I start in a normal period of time. Another bad habit of mine is reading a million books at once and then never finishing them. Sad.

5. Make good use of the fieldhouse this last month of school.

6. Buy a coloring book. I have the COOLEST box of crayons that I need to start using.

7. Edit some of our wedding pics. I love editing photographs, but I've only barely tapped into photos of the wedding.

8. Use the cooking for two cookbook that Grandma Herdman gave me. Love her.

9. Buy sidewalk chalk. We have a field of cement outside our front door, and even though the neighbors will judge, I want to make it feel a bit happier.

10. Watch The Muppet Movie. I've been wanting to do that for months now...

11. Really de-junk my ipod. It's a very scary thing, but 5,000+ songs in crazy.

12. Simplify. Food, money, clothes, clutter, time...everything needs to be simplified.

13. Read the Book of Mormon again. I've been on a Doctrine and Covenants kick, but I've sadly neglected the BOM a bit.

14. Go to the temple with Amy Jane. She is great and so is the temple.

15. Feed the ducks at First Dam

16. Watch a meteor shower

17. Actually go through with craft night. :)

I'm now legit

My birthday was great! This will be a post to brag about how cool my husband is. This is what happened on Tuesday...

I feel asleep reading Monday night while Josh was downstairs doing homework. He came in at midnight with a mini cake and candles, and sang happy birthday to me. We didn't eat the cake, and quickly fell asleep, but it was still super cute. We skipped out on our morning classes (oops) and slept in until 9:30 or so. As I was getting out of the shower, I smelled bacon. My favorite! Josh made me breakfast, and we opened part of my present before heading to class. he got me Mama Mia which is perfect because I've been singing, "I have a dream" nonstop for about a month now. :) We went to classes and I was happily greeted on facebook with about 30 Happy Birthday! notices. I also got a sweet letter from Josh with 21 reasons why he loves me. He's wonderful! After classes, we watched Coraline (GREAT movie! Slightly creepy, but FABULOUS!) I then opened the rest of my present (Horton Hears A Who, 21, a bag of smarties, and more stuff to make earrings), and we headed down to Layton to eat at Mimi's courtesy of Mom and Dad Mangelson! It was great! We were going to stop at Krispy Kreme, but with the free desert I got, and getting deserts with our meal, PLUS the mini cake we had waiting for us at home, we thought we better not. ;)

It was a wonderful day and thanks for all the birthday wishes, texts, calls and wall posts. Birthdays are way cooler with technology. More people know! haha! :)

Post Secret

Talk about amazing! Frank Warren came and spoke at USU yesterday and I loved every minute of it. For those of you who don't know, Post Secret started out 4 years ago as a social experiment where Frank handed out postcards and had people mail him their secrets anonymously. The project grew rapidly and now Frank has received millions of secrets from all over the world. There's a website, blog, and several book filled with people's secrets. Frank donates most of the proceeds to the suicide prevention hotline, and has received countless stories about how Post Secret has stopped people from taking their own lives because it gives them a hope that they aren't the only ones out there with burdens. Anyways, that's a quick rundown. So yesterday he read some of his favorite secrets. Some were hilarious, and others almost made me cry. After his 45 minute speech, he had two mics set up and people could come up and share their secrets. The emotion and rawness that was in that room was incredible. A few of them were funny, but most were stories of hurt, sorrow, and forgiveness. The room was silent as a few dozen people shared things that they've never told a soul. It was amazing. There was a familar face in the crowd form high school. She was the second one to tell her secret, and I can't imagine the courage it took for her (or any of them) to stand up. One man said that if it weren't for Post Secret, he would have been long gone, but because of the support system he found within the community, his neice had an uncle. Apparently he met his significant other through Post Secret, and she was with there with him. I don't think Josh liked it as much as I did, but he was still slightly entertained. I however, wished it could have lasted all night. Oh it was great. I think any time humans connect with other humans great things comes as a result. Post Secret was right up that alley for me!
