Up a mountain

Let me start out by saying I'm not a super fan of heights. I'm not terrified of them by any means, but whenever I'm suspended in the air (which basically happens never) I have visions of what my body would look like when I smacked the ground (morbid, right?) I hate it. It stresses me out and although I don't panic over it, you definitely won't see me volunteering to go on something more that 10 feet in the air (unless it's a roller coaster. Those don't count. Roller coasters are awesome.) So, with that information, know that this outing was a big deal for me.

Last Thursday, on Josh's day off, we headed up to Snowbird to ride the tram. It's usually WAY more money than *I'm* willing to pay, but last weekend they were doing a food drive and the cost was one can of food per person. I can handle that, so we went! It was surprisingly not busy at all (I guess we did go around noon on a Thursday afternoon...) and we had a pretty good time. I didn't take too many pictures because I was a nervous wreck at the top of the mountain. Two 2 year olds around cliffs with billion foot drop offs? Yeah, I was slightly panicking the entire time we were up there.

Miss Lillian Jean

And my Sophie Lynn

What a man. Holding a baby and my pink purse. Seriously, Josh is the best.
And don't mind the over exposed pic. Wasn't too focused on the camera when Lillian because Lillian was interested in running down the mountain.

The girls throwing 'rwock inda wa-ee" Translation? Throwing rocks in the water. The cold, slushy, snowy water.

See what they're running toward? DEATH! Death is what they're running toward. Pretty sure I actually screamed at them right as this picture was being taken...
Which thinking back, probably wasn't the best reaction. What if they would have been scared, tripped  and fell the 10 billion feet to the bottom? Ugh. That place creeped me out!

We had some more rock throwing...

It was pretty cold and I was glad we brought their coats. Speaking of these coats, we got them last year and they are STILL too big for the girls. What the heck, Children's Place? Normally your clothes run small on my girls. I can't complain though because we'll get another winter at least out of them.

And kisses for Dad on the way down.

The girls loved it. Josh thought it was fun and I was grateful we all survived. Josh puts up with his grumpy, panicked wife quite well I should mention. I'm not sure when (or if) we'll go back, but I am now proud to say that I've done the Snowbird tram with twins.

Crazy...

And want to know what else is crazy? This photo contest I entered. I didn't think there would be any competition, but there is and I've got this intense desire to win. I was thinking and if I win, I think I'll do a giveaway on this blog. No, I wouldn't give away the iPad, but something...cool. I just have to think of what. (Gift card? Nail polish? Cloth diapers? A few of my favorite things?) I'm not super crafty and don't have awesome skills, but I feel like I owe you guys something. This blog has given me a lot. New friends, a free photoshoot with an amazing photographer, and a perspective and confidence that I don't think I would have without it.

So anyway, if you guys could like Logan's hospital's facebook page and give my girls 5 stars, I'd really appreciate it and I promise to come up with something awesome to giveaway. :)

The picture should take you there.

Thanks!

A patch of pumpkins

My girls have become obsessed with pumpkins this fall. One day, we were at Jenny's house and she was reading the girls stories. Because she's a teacher (and because she has an incredible love for children's books), she's got all sorts of children's books for the different holidays/seasons. After a few Halloween books, my girls were hooked and ever since then, they talk about pumpkins constantly. We've had a decent sized one as well as two tiny ones on our porch for weeks, but we decided to take them to an actual pumpkin patch. It was really neat, complete with a mountain of hay, a small petting zoo (horses and goats) a roaming cat, tractors a store with fresh produce and potential hay rides (although we went at the wrong time). It was great!

If this picture has sound, you'd be hearing the squeals and "pum-kin! pum-kin!"

The girls thought we should take them all home...

Dad's adorable photo op with Sophie

And my attempt. Josh was more successful.

We ended up leaving with 3 new pumpkins, one honeydew, 6 apples and two grumpy babies.

And if you could, we'd love to have a vote from you in this little facebook contest we're in. You can vote daily until the end of the month. Just click on the picture to get you to the contest. Thanks!

Old McWheeler had a farm

Becky wrote about her recent trip to the farm and when I read it, I knew I had to go. I also knew I like hanging out with Becky, so I left her a comment that basically invited myself to go with her the next time she went. So she did. We went this past Thursday and the girls loved it. Her neighbor came along too, so there were three adults and five children under 25 months. The twins got a little crazy at the end (all four of them) but we survived and overall, it was a successful trip.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but in my adult life, I had never really been to Wheeler farm until this week. I mean, I had been to a wedding or two, but never to the farm. You guys, my girls are two years old and for 8 months of their lives we lived 10 minutes from the farm and we never went! I'm not sure I even knew you could walk around, chase the geese, feed the horses, pet the cows, and climb on tractors. I knew it existed and I remember going there in elementary school, but who knew you could just go whenever you wanted?!

Five toddlers and a heifer.

Sophie got licked by the cow. She obviously wasn't amused.

The kids feeding the horses (notice Lillian tripping and trying to take Micah down with her) and Micah patiently waiting for his turn on the tractor.

Lillian threw rocks in every tin, puddle, feeder, etc that had water in it. I think it had something to do with throwing rocks in the river when we went camping...

I foolishly tried to get a posed picture of the three of us. Who am I kidding?!

Although I do sort of obsessively love this one...

Becky is incredible with kids. Really, this woman could handle two more sets of twins. Easy.

We waited until the 5,873 children passed us by and then we got out the secret chicks. Sophie loved the "tweet tweet".

And this is the beginning of the end. The kids were hungry, tired and were over it. Grey was definitely not feeling the group hug moment (neither were my girls, apparently...)

I swear it took us just as long to get back to the cars as it did to go through the entire farm. With three adults, five toddlers and dozens of roaming chickens and geese, we got a little sidetracked. Not to mention the buses and buses of elementary kids that were there. It got a little intense, especially when 4 out of the 5 kids were crying. Those twins...

But it was awesome. And I got a thumbs up from another mom while I was getting my screaming children into my car. So that's success, right?

Wheeler farm, I'm sorry I've neglected you all these years. We will definitely be coming back.

Zoo

I'm not sure why, but I never blogged about our trip to the Zoo a few weeks ago. Maybe it's because I didn't take too many pictures (yeah, that's probably it) but we had a really good time. It was cold enough for there not to be many people there, but not unbearably cold.

All of these pictures were taken with my point and shoot and I didn't edit any of them, so don't hate me for that.

Even though it really wasn't that cold, we bundled the girls up with thick, lined hoodies and boots.

Sophie continued to hate the animals. She did her nervous cry, clung onto us and didn't want to get near them at all.

When we walk by the Ostrich,  this is what happened. It crouched down, stuck its feathers out and started swaying back and forth. It would stand up, look us square in the eye and peck at the fence. Pretty sure it wanted to eat us. Apparently those things are violent? Who knew?

I don't have a picture of our other angry animal encounter, but the Lemurs freaked out when Josh walked up to them. The started acting like this. It was kind of like the gorilla experience we had when we last went to the zoo. I think primates are pretty intimidated by Josh's 6'5'' stance.

I love the zoo. And I love that the babies have been there 3 times in the past 15 months. Maybe we should look into getting an annual pass....

Sorry this blog is up so late in the day. It's Josh's day off so we've been out Christmas shopping and I've been doing school garbage. Tell me this college degree thing is worth it.
