I'm such a good mother already

I just told my little sister that if she didn't watch Fantastic Mr. Fox I wouldn't let her hold the twins.

Not only am I a good sister, but I'm already becoming a excellent mother. I'm using my children to get what I want. I mean, that's why people have kids, right? ;)

The shock is wearing off

Wow. We felt so loved when we first announced the pregnancy, but this is getting crazy! We got emails, messages, comments, texts, calls, etc up the YANG! Like I said, our family and friends are already pulling together and giving us advice, ideas, and the support we already need. This morning I woke up with a great sense of peace. I've been stressing like crazy since we found out, but I'm pretty sure it'll all work out. I don't want you to think we're not excited, but we were just a teeny bit overwhelmed by everything. That's starting to wear off and now it's time to get in major babies mode. :)

I still don't have a picture because with my head in a million different places the last few days, I haven't uh...looked my best. Again, not to be shallow, but I want to look "happy/healthy" pregnant in the pictures I take to remember this, not "sleep deprived/I haven't brushed my hair in days" pregnant. Those pictures will come after the babies get here. Although, I am showing. I got in a swimming suit for about 10 minutes last night at work and quickly realized that my swimming days might be over...forever. haha.

So here's another boring post with no pictures. Sorry, I'll get one up tomorrow. Thanks again for everyone's support and advice. It's going to be a crazy ride, but we're slowly getting ready for it.

Oh, one more thing. I'm in shock at how much Josh has stepped up to the plate. I mean, I knew he was greatest person alive, but I had no idea he would take care of me like he has. He does EVERYTHING around the house and doesn't complain at all. I'm trying to still be a good wife, I'm trying...

Just when I was starting to accept the idea of having ONE baby...

Remember on Valentine's day when I said I thought I was having twins because I was already showing? Well, call it mother's intuition if you want but....it's TRUE!

TWINS!

Dr : (starting to chuckle a little) "Have you guys seen many ultra sounds?"

Me: "A few. Just of a couple of friends"

Dr: "Well, there's something a little different with yours. I'll let you figure it out."

Josh and I stare and the screen trying to figure it out. We see a baby and a blob. All of the sudden the blob becomes...a second baby!!!

I instantly burst into tears and am in total shock. Josh was speechless as the doctor asked if twins ran in our families. My dad was supposed to be a twin, but I thought that was it. We found out after talking to both families that there are twins littered (is that a normal word to use?) on all four of our parent's lines. WOW!

To say we're terrified is an understatement. Luckily, we've got a great support system of family and friends who are already coming together and offering us help and supplies. I'm glad I'm getting two kids out of this pregnancy because it's been pretty awful. I've tried to stay positive about it, but now that I have an actual excuse of why I've been so sick and why I'm pretty big already, I'm going to use it. :)

We're still in shock, but can't wait for our CHILDREN to arrive. Luckily, we've still got 5-6 months to prepare (twins often come early so we're now expecting them sometime in August) so hopefully the news can fully sink in by then. It better because there's no turning back!

I was going to post a pic of my belly, but I'm in my pj's, no makeup and even though I'd like to think I'm not that shallow...if I'm going to be having twins, I should probably maintain my dignity for a little while longer. I'll post one soon. :)

I'm going to crack

There is a car somewhere in our neighborhood who's alarm goes off multiple times a day EVERY day. It's the most obnoxious sound in the world and I'm going crazy. It's to the point where I'm going to go on a hunt for it and set the car on fire.

That is all.

*update- since I wrote this post it's gone off 4 times. I'm typing this sentence at 12:42. Oops. Make that 5 times...

It's about this time each year...

that I get insane cabin fever. Can we go to California, Josh? Oh we can! Ok. I'll go pack my bags. If only....if only.

I caved

I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but I wore sweatpants to school today. Now, if you know me, you'll probably laugh that I'm ashamed at that. I'm the sweatpant queen! I own at least 7 pairs in a variety of colors and they were my staple in high school. I've gotten really good at wearing normal clothes in public, but after trying on 3 different pairs of jeans and having them all uncomfortably tight, I threw in the towel. You may judge me, but I don't care. I'll be pulling out the hair elastics soon and hopefully I wont embarrass myself. I would post a pic, but I don't look pregnant, more like I'm eating 9 plates of food for dinner. I find humor in that because eating is a battle Josh and I have every day. He wants me to eat {I mean, it's only natural} but nothing sounds good to me. Luckily, I think I'm at the tail end of it all and I've been feeling better gradually. For now though, I'll probably continue to wear sweatpants until I get out of this denial stage and pull out the rubber band. However, I must say that I'm highly jealous of those woman who don't show until they're around their 4th month. They say you show earlier with each additional pregnancy, so I'm officially decided that there's no hope for me. I'm bound to have a huge belly. :)

Valentines day

This weekend we celebrated our third Valentines day together. This one was a little different that V-days in the past because I had spent the middle night pretty sick and was awake from about 2:30-6:00. Josh was awesome and stayed up with me the majority of the time trying to make me feel better. He's great. I love him. Our day was pretty simple. We slept in, went to lunch at Pier 49 and rented Food Inc. {Really good movie that I've wanted to see for months. Watch it. It'll change how you look at food.} Josh got me roses with a vase filled with my favorite jelly beans and let me stay in sweat pants almost the whole day {I wore jeans for the pizza, but that was it :) }. We had a traumatic experience at a very over crowded Spoon me, but it ended well. Here's a few pics because it's been forever since I've posted new ones of us:

As far as pregnancy goes, I'm pretty sure I've got twins inside of me. As much as I try to suck in I can't get rid of this little pouch. I'm not that far along. 11 weeks, guys. I don't feel like that's normal. Josh keeps reminding me that I've got a Mangelson growing inside of me and I guess he's got a point. With Josh being 6'5 and my brother-in-law being 6'8, I don't think us having big kids will surprise anyone and apparently our little one is already getting a head start...

too much for me to handle

I'll admit it, I'm a wuss. From my irrational fear that someone is always two steps ahead of me waiting to murder me, to my intolerance to spicy foods...there's no other word to describe me. However, before you can go poking too much fun, know that I've changed more adult sized diapers and wiped up more snot than probably most of you, so don't go judgin'. {Ok, maybe that was a bit TMI but still, I don't want you all to think I'm a total priss} Anyways, I got home from class today and wanted chips and salsa. Last time I checked, we were out of chips. I went to the cupboard just to make sure and sure enough, Josh had gone shopping! I was thrilled! I opened the fridge to see our assortment of salsa only to have my heart break when I say the label, "Medium". Now, you'd think that wouldn't be a big deal, right? I mean medium isn't that hot and if my body was craving it, it would find a way to make due, right? Wrong. I poured a small bowl and started to eat. At first, it wasn't that bad. In fact, I'd gotten through three whole chips without feeling uncomfortable! However, as soon as the fourth chip entered my mouth, the volcano exploded. It tasted so good, but I was in so much pain. I couldn't fake it and I was defeated. I dumped out the salsa, drank milk straight from the carton {so if you come over soon and I offer you milk, you should probably decline} and now am writing this blog. Is there a reason other than to procrastinate an online post for one of my classes? Not really, other than to tell you that if you ever want to give me salsa for a gift, please please PLEASE make it mild.

The end.

Smiths

Dear Smiths,

You are so much better than Wal-Mart. Remember this? I haven't changed my opinions one bit.

Love,
Brittany

Belly Mamas

My friend Jessie {who's child I used in the post when we announced our pregnancy} got together with some of her new mommy friends and started a blog for pregnant women. It's here and I'm excited about it. I've already called Jessie multiple times with questions about pregnancy, so it'll be an interesting forum to ask those questions that nobody talks about or people just assume you should know. So, there's my plug. If you're pregnant, or just want to know what's going to happen to you when you become pregnant, check it out!

Dear Josh,

Thanks for always locking the door when you leave the apartment and I'm still inside. I know my fear of being murdered is completely irrational {well, honestly I'm not sure this it is} and it makes me happy to know that you protect me. Also, thank you for buying me m&m's last night. I haven't been in the mood for chocolate for about a month, but it hit me yesterday and I HAD to have some. Thanks for being excited and giddy about our baby. I really enjoy hearing you talk about the three of us and wondering what he/she will look like. I'll try to actually start eating so it wont just have to live off of prenatal vitamins {as well as saltines, sherbet, and now m&ms}.

I promise to put away the laundry, do the dishes AND vacuum tomorrow. I'm determined! I haven't lifted a finger in our poor little apartment for weeks and it's really starting to show. {even though you've done a great job, I understand you're burned out}

You'll get your wife back one of these days. I promise.

Do you think I can

get crafty in the next 6 1/2ish months? It's my goal to make at least one thing for our baby. Like one of these or maybe this or possibly this. We'll see, well see.

Also, the only thing I've been able to keep down in the last 24 hours is Peach flavored Serbet. I'm just grateful it's something super, super yummy. :)

Happy Birthday!

It's my brother Jason's birthday today. If you don't know Jason, all I can say is that he's basically the coolest person ever. I could brag about him for a while, but I wont. I'll just leave you with a few pictures of his awesomeness.

Happy birthday, Jason.

Quote of the day

Heard walking out of my class yesterday,

"This isn't a Disney Channel original movie! People's hearts get broken and their lives get ruined."

I'm sorry, but that's hilarious.

Today was lame. Here's to tomorrow.

Overwhelmed {but in a good way}

Well, who knew that with our "coming out of the pregnancy closet" as my friends and sister call it, we'd get such an outpouring of love. Facebook/blog messages, texts, phone calls...it's overwhelming! We feel very loved and feel like we have the best family/friends anyone could ask for. (cheesy, right) As for how I've been feeling---If you ask Josh, he's say sick as a dog at night time. The poor guy feels completely helpless. I don't feel sick all the time, but as soon as I smell meat, or anything too extreme (spicy, sweet, etc) I run away. I get nauseated if I'm not constantly eating, but hardly anything sound good, so when I do feel like eating I take full advantage of it and enjoy every bite. The good news is that I haven't thrown up since Thursday! I also get winded really easily. The other day I walked from BRASC (for those of you not in Logan this will mean nothing to you) to the library on campus and felt like I was going to die. Literally. I was breathing as if I'd just ran three miles. (and yes, running 3 miles would probably kill me) It's a pretty decent walk (I'd say maybe 3-4 blocks??) but nothing that should have taken me out that bad. Another time I was going to class on the second floor of Old Main. I looked at the switch back stairs and almost laughed out loud. I headed to the elevator, hoping I would be alone to ride the looong distance to floor 2 in peace. Sadly, a girl was already in it and I feeling to embarrassed to push "2", I rode it with her to the third floor and walked down the stairs. Pathetic, right? Just a bit. One last pathetic thing...I cried during Miss America. (I don't think Josh knows about that one.) My emotions are ALL over the place.

So, there's an update. I'm hoping this pregnancy doesn't take over my blog completely so I'll try to keep my personality in and the gory details out.

Oh, and one more thing. I found out the other day that my old roommate is pregnant too. She's due 4 days before me. As a certain participant at my work would say, "CCC" {That was for you, Amy Jane.}

Paige is next to me in the black.
