Here's the thing(s)

A Truth Tuesday, of sorts...

I still hate cooking. I try. I really do try, but I hate it. I hate the preparation, the work, the clean up, I just hate it.

This is gross, but I have a zit on my cheek. I haven't had a zit on my cheeks since...ever. I don't think I've ever had one. I get one or two small ones on my chin eh...monthly (you know...), but on my cheek? This is foreign and I'm kind of distraught over it.

I miss school and yet I don't regret taking a semester off. Not for one second. You see, I miss sociology. I miss notebooks. I miss desks. I miss real lectures. I miss listening to other people's questions and my professor's responses (because Heaven knows I never raised my hand in class...) I will get none of those things when I return to school in January. It makes me sad.

I promised Mindy that I would do a full post on Lacy's wedding. And I will, but I sort of don't want to because I did a suuuper crappy job at documenting it. Really, compared to Hailey's wedding, I hardly got anything. I've just got to find the motivation to go through what I do have and write a little synopsis of the day. Maybe I'll do that today?

I feel like Lillian is slipping through the cracks. That's horrible for me to say, but it's true. Sophie is really starting to talk, so naturally, I encourage it by giving her a lot of attention. I noticed that I was doing it yesterday and I got so mad at myself. Twins are hard. And when you have twins off the bat, you have to instantly learn how to balance two without ever learning how to balance one. Some days I'm great at it and other days, I suck. Yesterday, I sucked.

I think I want to start doing 'monthly favorites' posts for the girls. I take so many random pictures that I want to share, but don't really merit a whole post on their own. I can't decide if a monthly favorites would be really so different from a monthly update which I swore I wouldn't continue.Maybe a weekly favorites?

I don't know if you makeup wearers have heard or care, but Maybelline came out with a new line of Color Tattoos and I'm obsessed with Barely Beige. Absolutely obsessed. I saw someone mention it on facebook and I ran to Walgreen's and luckily picked up the last one. They're a lot like Mac Paint Pots only half the price and the beige one is beautiful. I don't wear a ton of makeup, but I could replace everything I have for this and a slightly darker crease color. You should ask Josh how excited I was to get it. I talked about it all night. I made him stare at the swatches on my hand and 'oooo' and 'awwwwwe' over it with me. And for the next couple of days I would say things like "you know what makes me happy?" and he'd respond with "your new makeup?" He was right. That was what I was going to say.

I'm beginning to hate politics. I don't really agree with anyone and I don't particular like anyone. And I'm kind of over the idea that because I'm a Utah Mormon, I must like Mitt Romney. Guess what? I don't. I just want November to come so we can get this whole election thing over with. I've writing in Leslie Knope.

I've been needing to wear a light jacket on my morning walks/jogs (although we only jog when we're feeling particularly super-womanish. It's totally my fault. Jenny, you picked a lazy workout buddy...) It makes me so happy. I love autumn. It's definitely the best time of the year.

I love Pinterest. There are so many pretty things to be found and it makes me feel like a human. Like I have interests and {potential} hobbies. Potential... ;)

And there you have it. My list of truths for this fine Tuesday morning.

Truth Tuesday

Because it's been an incredible amount of time since my last Truth Tuesday...

  • I don't really read blogs anymore. I've maybe got ten that I regularly check. Part of me feel bad about it, but mostly, I feel liberated.
  • I've been cooking a lot more lately and guess what? I do not enjoy it. I appreciate food, saving money and making Josh happy, but the actual cooking part? It's stressful, yet painfully boring. I'm hoping I find my hidden love for it soon, but am not holding my breath.
  • I realized yesterday that I do an alarming amount of singing throughout my day. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when my kids are old enough to be embarrassed by it...
  • A few days ago, I spent the entire time the girls were napping looking at photography blogs. I'm a little obsessed and really want to become better.
  • I've really slacked with the whole housemaker thing lately (maybe I'm spending too much time looking at photography blogs?). I gotta get my butt in gear.
  • Moonrise Kingdom has officially become one of my top 10 favorite movies. Right up there with Singin' in the Rain and Funny Face. I'm not even kidding. It was amazing.
  • I killed four flies with our new electric fly swatter yesterday and felt like a champion.
  • I also felt like a champion for sleeping with the light off while Josh was working the night shift (can you tell that it takes very little for me to feel like a champion?)
  • The girls turn 2 in just a few weeks and I have absolutely no idea what to do about it. Party? Presents? Potty training? What the what? I'm not ready for any of it, so back into denial I go...
  • I found an old notebook that had a semester's worth of Sociology classes in it. I love Sociology and part of me wants to keep taking all of the classes that USU offers even though I don't need them to graduate.
  • Speaking of school, I don't want to talk about it...
There you have it. Brittany's truths for this fine Tuesday morning.
And just because it makes me happy here's this...

Happy Tuesday!

Truth Tuesday

My truths this Tuesday...
  1. I can't wait to get out of this apartment. There have been a few creepy things happening lately and I want out. I'm over apartment living.
  2. The fact that the babies can crawl has turned into a huge headache for me. Honestly, this stage is harder than the newborn stage.
  3. I want to punch people that don't respect others. I guess that's disrespectful of me... Oops.
  4. I'm terrified of being the youngest mom in our new neighborhood. I know it's going to happen and for some reason it's kinda a big deal to me.
  5. My babies are cuter than your babies. ;)
  6. Sometimes, I really hate the attention we get because of these babies. Actually, most of the time I don't like it. I love them, obviously, but 99% of my conversations are about them and I'm scared of loosing my personality.
  7. I need to loose weight. Now.
  8. I am confident in the fact that I'm going to cry during Oprah's last show. I can't even think about it. I love her. I really, really do.
  9. I sorta hate people who hate Oprah. Not really, but I feel bad for them.
  10. I love sarcasm and also feel bad for people who don't.
  11. Lillian now says "Mama" I'm pretty sure it's in no relation to me and that she just spouts it out, but secretly I know she knows I'm the Mama.
  12. My 5 year reunion is this weekend and people are saying, "has it really been 5 years already?" That seems silly to me, because it really does feel like 5 years ago.
  13. I actually really, really liked high school.
  14. It's May 17th and I still haven't had a sno cone. That's horrific.
  15. Most of the time, my kids are crawling around in just a diaper. I feel like it's a little less white trash because it's cloth....right?
  16. I want to read a book. Like a legitimate novel. I don't think I have the time though.
  17. Days when the babies don't nap at the same time are horrible.
  18.  Sometimes I really don't think I'm cut out for this twin thing, but then I look at how adorable they are and somehow I get confidence again.

Thanks for all your votes in the Baby Journal contest! We landed in 12th place which is huge because we beat out some extremely popular blogs. This means, our blog will be listed as one of the top 25 Baby Journal blogs on the Circle of Mom's website. Pretty spiffy if you ask me! The contest for the most popular blogs with multiples is still going, so if you feel so inclined, a daily 'thumbs up' would be great!

    Truth Tuesday

Some of these aren't 'truths' per say, but there things I want to say.
    • We just feel in love with a house. Like really, really in love. We're about to put an offer on it and I would be beyond ecstatic if we got it. It's not a short sale, so we could close really soon. We could possibly know tomorrow. Holy. Moly.
    • Both the girls are crawling. It's insane how much they move around. It makes my job a little harder.
    • I have one more test until I'm not with the semester. Actually, I have one more test until I'm done with school for an undecided period of time. I neeeeeed a break. A break longer than summer vacation.
    • Speaking of school? Guess who saw that her grade was a C- and decided not to turn in 2 missing assignments? It's funny how your priorities change once you have kids.
    • One of the biest things I like about the house we want to buy, is how friendly the neighbors are. We already had a lady welcome us to the neighborhood and let us know that our kids would be well loved since they have 4 nursery classes (class at church for kids 18 months- 3 years) and A HUNDRED and FIFTY kids in their primary. Craaaaaaaaazy.
    • We've watched more hours of The Office in the last 3 days than possibly anyone else in the world. We've literally gone through most of the series.
    • I like my husband. Like a loooot. Sometimes I forget that (not entirely) but sometimes I don't appreciate him as much as I should. He really is amazing.
    • I think Donald Trump is pretty wacko.
and possibly the most important truth...
    • I thought Pippa was prettier than Kate at the royal wedding.

And since I know a post is hardly a post without pictures of the twins...

With them crawling, it's getting a lot harder to take a picture of them together. By the time I sit them down, one of them jets off. Silly little girls.

    Truth Tuesday

    Here are my truths today:
    • The babies still aren't sleeping. It's killing me. Quite frankly, I want to punch people who have 'good sleepers' in the face (ok, not really but...). You name it, we've tried it. However, the one thing we haven't tried is diluting their middle of the night bottles. That tip was given to me by a twin mom and I'm going to try it tonight. I think the girls have gotten in the habit of eating and that's causing them to not eat so much during the day. In fact, today as of 4 pm, they've only eaten about 12 ounces. Ridiculous.
    • My sister in law is in labor! A new Mangelson nephew is on his way.
    • School is eating me alive. When people ask me how I do it, my answer should be "I can't". Really, it's murdering me and I'll be lucky if I get C's this semester. I'm honestly just hoping to pass.
    • I don't know what I'll do once Oprah ends. 27 episodes left? Really? Really? I am heartbroken.
    • I am fat and that's killing me too. And that really is a truth. I weigh a significant amount more than I did before I was pregnant. And I know I had 2 children, but this isn't baby weight. This is Brittany-was-stuck-inside-all-winter-and-ate-too-many-Cheez Its- fat. In October, I was basically down to my pre-pregnancy weight and now I'm up almost 30 lbs. Nasty. And gross. And disgusting. I need to change.
    •  I love it when I hear about others who cloth diaper. I really love it when they tell me I've 'converted' them. Brittany Mangelson: saving babies bums, the environment and the wallet, one butt at a time.
      • My family is the greatest in the world. We had a family dinner at my aunts house on Saturday and we spent hours laughing and talking. I didn't even take a single picture because I was enjoying myself the entire time. Yep, they're good people.
And that's it. A short Truth Tuesday that felt oh so good.

        3.29.2011

        Truth Tuesday

I know Tuesday is almost over, but my friend, Jessie, was inspired by her friend, Megan, and I'm stealing (borrowing?) the idea. I need some serious 'me' talk, so I'm looking forward to Tuesdays. Here we go...
        {I technically added the second to last one on Wednesday (although it was at 3 am when I was trying to get Lillian to back to sleep.) and when I said 'one baby at a time' I really meant child, so far, we're planning on having a few more kids.}

        • We went to the zoo today. I've wanted to go for over a year now. It was the greatest few hours I've had in a long time. Pathetic? Maybe, but I freakin' love the zoo.
        • Cloth diapering is harder now that real poop has entered the picture. I forget to use liners most of the time and get frustrated and pull out the Luvs. The girls have been in disposables a lot more than I want them to be lately. There. I said it.
        • Sometimes I get sad that I'll never know what it's like to have only one baby.
        • I got waaaaaay too excited when I saw these. Coolest.Thing.Ever.
        • I'm addicted to Netflix documentaries.
        • I don't understand people who don't get or like sarcasm.
        • Sometimes I wonder if a Bachelor's degree is worth it.
        • I'm so ridiculously close to getting said Bachelor's degree, that I should probably stop wondering if it's worth it.
        • I would live in Daybreak in a heart beat if we could afford it. Some of those homes are absolutely beautiful.
        • I know I don't give the girls the individual attention they need and that kills me.
        • Not to toot my own horn, but when I think of how I've done this 'twin' thing on my own (with Josh of course, but he works) I get really, really proud of myself.
        • Sometimes I look at baby pictures on blogs and think "that's unfortunate". {You can't tell me you've never thought that one...}
        • I wish I didn't blog so much about my girls. I'm thinking about starting a second blog. A blog about my thoughts independent from diapers and sippy cups.
        • Sippy cups? We haven't started sippy cups.
        • Sometimes we think how easier life would be if we only had Lillian {love you, Sophie!}
        • I don't think I'll publish everything that's saved as a draft.
        • I turn 23 on Thursday and I feel like I'll finally be 'legit'. I also said that at 21 and 22, so we'll see.
        • I've never understood the comment, "When you have another baby {granted it be one} it will be so much easier!" I'm fairly confident in the fact that I'll still have the twins when Mangel-baby #3 comes along.
        • I could wear these shoes every day for the rest of my life and never get sick of them.
Gray Vans. My hero is shoe form.
And yes, that's a giant tub of Red Vines. And yes, it's almost gone. And yes, I've eaten 95% of it by myself.
        Let the judging commence.

Man, that felt good. Looking forward to Tuesdays!
