A little update...

I've decided that I'm not very good at blogging. I'm not sure what it's going to take to get me to "think like a blogger", but hopefully I get better! :) Life couldn't be better. Josh and I get married THIS WEEK! Friday is right around the corner and there's so much to do. Luckily I'm not stresses at all, (I'm leaving that to my mother...) I'm just ridiculously happy. The past few weeks have been fun yet crazy! Josh and I went to Temple Square a few weekends ago to see the Joseph Smith movie and the lights. We ate at JB's, and enjoyed our time in Salt Lake. It was also the night of the BYU USU game, so it was fun to see dozens of Aggie fans. Too bad we didn't win! :(

This one's for Josh, "Please enjoy the natives from the sidewalk."

The temple is beautiful!

Waiting for the Joseph Smith movie

We love to see the temple!

So there's a glimpse of our temple square trip! This week was also fun because I got together with my childhood-Slate Canyon 2nd ward friends Katie, Jessica and Jessie. We've started this tradition to go out to lunch a few days before one of us gets married and my turn was up! It was good catching up because the last time we were all together was at Jessie's wedding! I love these girls!

It took about 7 takes to get this picture. Too bad I look dopey!

The evolution of the love seat.

Josh and I needed a place to sit in our new little apartment. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but buying a new couch is a pretty penny, so we decided to take the task upon ourselves and see what we could come up with. We went to DI and found this cute (that's a stretch...) little bright orange love seat for $30. When I say orange, I mean orange. I think if it was placed on orange shag it would have gotten lost! Not only was it orange, but the fabric was this nasty velvet that had been sat on one too many times. Josh and I looked at it, and realized that we had found it. Our new couch!

So with the help of his roommate Doug, we brought it to our apartment and started thinking of ways to make it better. We decided that we could get thick foam and stick it all over the seats and arms, and then get a slip cover using Bed Bath and Beyond gift cards to make it look pretty. That we did and the following pictures are of the evolution of our love seat!

I forgot to take a picture of it before we actually started, but this is basically what it looked like before!

Foam on the arms and back...

We used my old mattress pad and foam from his parent's old couch

A little more cushion.

Add the slipcover and we have a love seat!!!

Two Weeks!

The countdown is on. I was too embarrassed to start counting down earlier in fear of looking crazy, but with two weeks left I think I can officially get away with counting down. So yeah, TWO WEEKS! :)

I apparently forgot something...

So the list I made the other day was incomplete. I didn't mean to leave a certain someone off the list, but I figured I bundled them with "family". I'm grateful for Josh!!!! I wont go into reasons as to keep this blog from being as non-cheesy as possible, but I do love him and I am grateful for him. i guess when he noticed that I didn't mention him specifically he got sad. Like I said, I already consider him family! haha! We're down to less than three weeks!

Turkey Day!

Thanksgiving is awesome. I love being around family, food, and games. This year my brother-in-law brought over the new guitar hero decked out with drums and a microphone. It kept us entertained post-turkey time. I have another thing to be grateful for besides family and food. I'm grateful for the fact that my sister's dog Jack doesn't hate Josh anymore. It used to be that whenever Josh would walk into the room Jack (who only weighs 5 pounds) would perk up to 200 pounds (in his mind) and try to match Josh's size. He yelped and barked like crazy! Luckily this time around Jack was fine and actually gave my cousin Adam more grief!

This weekend should be fun though. I've got my final bridal shower, and my aunts wedding. It will be fun to spend time with the majority of my family and introduce them to Josh. I'm also grateful that there isn't feet and feet of snow on the ground yet. I remember many a thanksgiving where we've had to shovel loads of snow off our cars to get anywhere. Thanks global warming! haha! :) I wouldn't mind if we continued this weather pattern for a few weeks and then a few days before the wedding we get a nice blanket of snow!

Wedding plans are going great. We've basically got everything in place, but I keep freaking myself out that we have tons to do. Invitations will be out this coming week so keep an eye out on your mail box! :) Tonight my buddies and I are having the last super sleepover ever. It's Fro's birthday so we're going to party it up. Maybe if we're really feeling lively we'll hit up the hospital for those yummy fries! It will be a fun night, and I'm grateful to have such amazing friends and family.

Well, I'm congratulating myself for one of the longest post to date. The venting post about the police officer may have been longer, but at least this one was happy! Now for the cheesy top ten things I'm thankful for on this day of thanks!

1. The gospel/scriptures/temples
2. Family
3. Friends
4. Technology
5. Food
6. My apartment
7. Utah State
8. Good weather
9. The holiday season
10. Books

I could make the list longer, but I'm assuming nobody wants to read it...anyways, I'm off blogging world. I shall now return to playing guitar hero with the people I love.

Tagged!

Jessie tagged me and now I have to confess 5 weird things that most people don't know about me...um...here we go!

1. I've been to almost all 48 continental states. There are a few I've missed in the north east region, but I think the last time I counted I had been to about 40!

2. I can eat candy canes all year round. After Christmas, when they go on sale for 25 cents I usually stock up with 10 boxes or so. YUMMY!

3. I have a weird obsession with Jim Henson. I'd go as far to say that he's far superior to Walt Disney. I think it's sad that more people don't realize that!

4. I never missed a day in Elementary school. Perfect attendance from K-6th! haha...what a DORK!

5. I've secretly liked country music my whole life. Growing up in Provo surrounded by people who felt it was for hicks forced me to keep that part of me hidden. Well, since I've been up in Logan and I can let that part of me run freely! ;)

there you have it. five weird things about brittany.
Brooke Jones, Ashley Crandall and Jessica Dahl...you're it!

the shower of the bride...

Hailey and Lacy threw me a bridal shower a few days ago, and let's just say it was a hit! From a 3-teared rice krispy cake (not sure if that's spelled right...) to a ridiculous ensemble they made me wear, it was a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

We found it!

Josh and I finally ended the long hard search for an apartment! It's a two story apartment with 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms. It's on the west side of town and A LOT cheaper than anything that size on the east side of main street. I'm honestly not sure how we'll fill the space, but I'm sure it we'll find things to throw in that second bedroom! We're just happy that the search is over. Things are really starting to come together with this wedding. It's so exciting to think that I'll be going through the temple in a month from today, and be getting married to Josh in a month and a week. Yahoo!

Are Logan police more annoying than the election? Yes.

Here's the only thing I'm going to say about the election. I voted and it's over. I don't feel it necessary to divulge who I voted for, but I do feel that it's important for us to support the new President. Like him or not, that's who we've got for the next four years. Even McCain showed great respect for him tonight. It makes me sad to see that many of my family members and friends can't do the same. Anyways...

My real beef of the night is Logan police. I hopped in Josh's car around midnight to retrieve my car that I left by his apartment earlier in the day. (I hope that made sense...) After he dropped me off I was heading south on 6th east towards my apartment. Last time I checked in a residential neighborhood the speed limit was 25 miles an hour. I was going a daring 30 mph with the cop on my tail the entire time. If he (or she) really needed to go anywhere quickly don't you think he (or she...) would have turned on their lights or sirens? Isn't it a bad thing to tailgate someone? Don't they get blamed if I have to suddenly stop and they hit me? As I was trying to keep my cool with this this unfriendly cop, I look and see TWO other police cars right by the stop sign. Apparently Logan cops have nothing better to do on a Tuesday night than to pool together and sit to check if drivers come to a full and complete stop. By this point I was pretty annoyed at the amount of Cache Valley citizens that are cops. They are EVERYWHERE! As I approached the stop sign I came to a very apparent full and complete stop. I sat there and put my car in park for about 10 seconds just to make sure I didn't get pulled over. I know, it seems stupid and slightly like a child-like protest, but unless you've been in Logan you don't understand. Some might argue that maybe there was suspicious activity near by and they had the police on hand. To that I would say no. They are everywhere all the time. I've had friends get pulled over for turning on their blinker too late. Not never turning it on, but turning it on too late! Friends that get pulled over by a cop who passed them on main street going about 50 when they are going 40. The list goes on and on! I guess I should be grateful for the law enforcement and stop complaining. I'm not anti-police at all, I just think it's getting ridiculous in the little city of Logan. I live 3 blocks south of Josh and I saw 3 cops on my way home. One of which tailgating me the entire way. Anyways, my pillow is calling me and I must get some sleep. Moral of the story? God Bless America.

HALLOWEEN!

The roommates going to the Howl
Our pumpkin is eating Josh

Gooey mess!

Josh and I decided to opt out of the Howl dance on campus, and we spent the evening carving pumpkins and watching scary movies. We got teased by both of our roommates for being "lame engaged people", but I'm pretty sure we had a much better time just hanging out like "lame" people. :) We had fun the night before at the Ryan Shupe concert. I sadly forgot my camera, so wasn't able to capture any of that excitement, but we sure loved it! I love this time of year and was so happy to spend it with my best friend!

Picnik.com

My genius of a sister found this website. www.picnik.com. It's basically photo shop for dummies, which is good because I'm a dummy when it comes to stuff like that. Anyways, here's a picture of us second ward girls at Jessie's wedding Polaroid style. Check out the site! : )

likert , guttman anyone?

Oh college! Here's the thing. I like learning things that I'm interested in. For the most part, sociology has been just that. Learning about poverty, human behavior, patterns in society, etc all spark my interest. Social research however, does not. I guess I'm the type of person that likes to learn from other's findings, not find my own. I have a test in my social research class tomorrow, and my brain is going to explode from the boringness the topic. Surveys, graphs, statistics, models, control groups, blah blah blah.... This is one of those classes that would be useful if I were more academically adventurous to pursue a masters, and actually conduct research, but for now it's just another thing to check off to get that 'oh so distant' bachelors degree. In my 14 1/2 years of formal education I've become a master at jumping through hoops. This, along with my evil art history class of fall '07, may be the trickiest hoops yet.

Conformity=Blogging.

With most of our families and friends creating and loving blogs, we decided (well I decided and am hoping Josh is on board) to start one of our own! I'll be honest and admit that I'm a little nervous for the blogging world for a few reasons. The main reason why I'm reluctant to start a blog is because I have no idea what to write on this thing! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy writing in my journal and all, but what am I going to say that will really interest anyone? I feel like it's normal if you lead some exciting life, or have kids, but I don't! I don't want to be cheesy, or gushy, and I'm afraid I'm not witty enough to entertain people. I'll give it a shot, and if it's a total nose dive I'll resort by going back to facebook where you don't really have to share anything. You just post a few pictures and tell people how adorable they are in theirs! :) For now though, I'm giving blogspot a shot!
