Ne Me Quitte Pas

Yeah, I know. You probably want the last installment of the Florida pictures, but you'll have to wait. I don't have the energy to do a serious post right now.

But seriously. Have you heard the news? (and yes, I just linked Perez Hilton's blog on mine. I think I just hit an all-time internet low.) Regina Spektor comes out with a new record in a few weeks. Who's excited?! (Brittany frantically raises and waves hands). I love her. I love her music. I love her lyrics. I love her voice. I've loved the two concerts I've seen her in.
She hasn't released any new music in 3 years, but now she finally is.

I had heard this song right when it was posted to facebook. Excitement filled my soul.

And yesterday, my sister found this gem. A revamping of my favorite. I still think I like the original better, but the new version makes me feel like I'm stuck in a Nintendo game from the early 90's. I'm ok with that...

 and the original

This just makes me so happy.

Oh! And guess what we drove by on our way to Disney World?
Don't mind the reflection of my shirt or the dirty window...
Remind anyone of this song?

Can't wait for May 29th!

Wherein I am a loser

In trying to keep up with this old blog without blogging about my girls every day of my life, I've been trying to think of topics to write about. So, last night I sat down with a pen and paper and started to write a list. Wanna see the list?

Seriously. What in the world? I looked at it for about 5 minutes, trying to think of other things. I then burst out loud laughing (mind you, I was by myself thus solidifying my loser status) because I couldn't think of a single thing worth blogging about. Not a single thing!

I thought about it and quickly realized that blogs have categories. There are craft blogs, fashion blogs, blog with amazing writers, photography blogs, food blogs, homeschooling blogs, religious blogs, etc, etc...

And then there's mine. A blog that started when I got engaged back in September 2008 because it was the 'cool' thing for engaged/married Mormon wives to do. It was cool to include the name of your spouse and pretend that they would be the co-author of the blog. (Although, Josh has hijacked this thing a time or two...) A blog where I wrote about women screaming at me because they thought I was trying to steal their baby. Or about how I once got hit by a car (oddly enough, both of those experiences happened at Walmart). Or how I went to see the musical love of my life, Regina, with some of my best friends.

And then there was the whole pregnancy announcement and twin announcement and then this blog sort of took off. It's become a 'twin blog'. That's the category it's in. That's why most of you read it. And truthfully, that's OK. I think I just need to find a balance. Blogging is a funny thing and I find it interesting that a lot of bloggers I follow have been writing about how weird blogging is lately. It is weird and I don't really know where my ideal balance is. Sooo... for now, here's the #1 thing on my oh-so-pathetic list. Music.

Joshua Radin, anyone? I love him. When I was engaged to Josh, I joked that he was the 'other' Josh in my life and I'm pretty sure my roommate almost threw up. Rightfully so, but seriously... he is magical.

And the acoustic version, which is funny because 98% of Joshua Radin's songs are normally acoustic. I honestly didn't realize it was him when I first heard the 'normal' version of this song. I liked it, but I didn't peg it as Mr. Radin. Although the original one is fun, I think I prefer the acoustic. What can I say? I'm a sucker for basic guitar and beautiful singing.

And I think I can cross off the 'funny things' from my list because of the picture itself. Seriously, do I really not have anything to talk about? If you ask my husband, neighbors, family or friends, they'd laugh and tell you that it's hard to get me to shut up. I'll keep working on that list. Hopefully it will grow...

Chicken Coop

What does a mom of mobile twins do when she needs to get something done?

IMG_0673
She builds a chicken coop on her bed.
I ended up putting more pillows on top of the gray ones, but it worked quite nicely. The girls played for over an hour with very little problems! There were a few times when things like this would happen

IMG_0681
and after a few moments of laughter from the girls, the screams were unleashed. Don't worry though, I've collected quite a bag of tricks over my 9 months of being a mother. My trick this time? Chicken feed (aka Cheerios). Using food to change the mood of the babies works like a charm. I guess I'll eventually have to discipline them, but for now, a few Cheerios or a chunk of fruit suits them just fine,
And yes, this was the same day as the last post. I strangely only took a handful of pictures yesterday and none of them turned out very well. So this is what you guys are getting. Still pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

On a non baby note, do you guys listen to Adele? I didn't just recently discover her, but I've been listening to her like crazy lately. Her voice, lyrics and music are amazing. If you're living under a rock (which don't worry, I fully admit that I am) listen to her. You will be blown away.

This one's my favorite
Absolutely beautiful.

Thumbs up for the chickens?
Thanks.

If you're curious about cloth diapers and even if you're not...

The cloth diaper post is below. However, I wanted to give those of you who don't care a little something. You very well may have seen this by now, but this girl is amazing! A friend posted it on facebook yesterday morning and when I watched it, there were a little over 3,000 views. Thanks to Lady Gaga tweeting about it (really she watched it and put it on her twitter) it now has almost a MILLION and a HALF views! Crazy. Watch it. You will fall in love with her.

And remember, if you're interested, to check out the post below. It seriously took me weeks to compile. It was no easy task. Even if you're not interested, there are cute diapered baby pictures.

Don't look back

Seriously? Could they get anymore awesome? I think not. I watched this video probably a dozen times yesterday.
Yes, I'll admit that I watched it while the girls were napping instead of showering.
Judge me.
But in my defense, the timing of the babies arrival made me miss their FREE concert in Salt Lake.
I love the babies, but seeeeriously?

I love everything about She & Him.
I hope you love them too.

Sufjan + hymns? Yes please.

This is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Like I said, brilliant.

I just found it and had to share. Just in case you didn't catch my opinion on it...
Brilliant.

p.s. be sure to check out the post below. There's a video of Sophie's little giggle.

Dumb school

I got an email today informing me that the online classes I am signed up for are for residents of Logan. I guess there's a Salt Lake section for the classes, but they are currently full. I don't see why it matters since it's an online course and I don't know how the school knows we moved, but I now don't know what to do. You see, I'm really close to graduating. Like, 6 or so more classes. 2 of them are math {stats} classes that I can't get in to because it's been so long since I've taken math, so I have to take the placement test. {Which I will probably fail and have to retake a few classes. I am terrible beyond measures at math} The 2 classes was going to take next semester filled requirements I need, but now I'm back at square one with nothing to take. Online classes are very limited and get filled quickly and I want to take relatively easy ones since I'll probably have two mobile babies this coming semester.

Boo.
I am so annoyed.
Thanks for letting me vent.

On a happy note, my cousin just posted this on facebook.
It's beautiful.
I hope you agree.

Yep, beautiful.

"Face it lady, we're younger and faster."

I could watch Fried Green Tomatoes over and over again. This, and the next 5 minutes or so, is my favorite scene. I love this and dedicate it to Celia.

I'm posting this because it's impossible not to smile while watching it and we all need to smile more, right? (While we're talking about Joseph Gordon-Levitt, have you all seen Inception? If not, go see it. It will rock your world. That is one we will be getting on blu-ray.)

and this, just because I firmly believe that everyone needs some more Regina Spektor in their lives.

and there's a glimpse of my exciting little youtube party I had with myself to celebrate week 33.

p.s. I've decided that my cloth diapers are tanks. I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but I'm pretty sure nothing will get through them. As one review put it, "these could have absorbed the flood in Noah's day." Am I excited to try them out on a real human? Certainly.

Music that might change your life.

I don't write about music much (if at all) on this blog which is a shame because I love it. Recently, I rediscovered this little beauty and it's been playing on my I-pod constantly. I say rediscovered because back in August of '08 Lacy found in while browsing through youtube. I think it would be an understatement to say that it changed our lives. Our whole apartment fell in love with the hat wearing guy and his happy-violin-man-friend. It's such a beautiful song and the once again is my current anthem.

Sometime mid March, I found it again and noticed that these guys had some new tunes added to their resume. I was once again blown away with their awesomeness.

and lastly, this almost had me in tears. Lacy, Josh and I went to one of the Twilight Concerts (no, it has nothing to do with that lame-o book...) and saw Bon Iver last summer. I love it. Outside concerts are probably my favorite and these ones are FREE! Scroll down to August 26th. She and Him are coming. Zooey Deschanel is wonderful and I'd REALLY like to see her and M.Ward live. However, sometimes I forget that by that point I'll either have two newborn daughters or be so pregnant I wont be able to think straight. Hmm...I might be out of luck. So I'll send a few friends to go in my place and make them take very detailed notes and report how it went. That's just as cool, right? I hope so...

Purchased

I finally got my ticket for her concert. Hearing this live will be beyond amazing. This concert is going to be a lot better than the last time we saw her because I know more than one CD. With over 60 of her songs on Stanley, and her lyrics engraved in my heart, I think it will be more enjoyable. (and a few years ago was fantastic) I.can't.wait.

I'm also hoping she sings this, ( I'm assuming it will be the album version though) this, this, and while she's at it, this one. Sadly, I can't get my hopes up that she'll sing one of my favorites, but we can wish, can't we?
