So... I'm not even going to try to pretend I have a real reason for taking a break from blogging. I've been busy, but not that busy. I just haven't felt like blogging. I can't promise regular, consistent posts quite yet, but...what else is new? For now, here's what's been going on..
Did I mention I got a job? I blog and answer customer service emails for Cheeky Lime. I actually really love it! I worked completely from on on my own schedule and it feels good to use my brain a little and have a creative outlet. On top of that, it's nice to bring in a little money every week. The transition of not working and becoming a full time mom was a little hard for me and this little side job has helped me feel like "me" again and makes me happy to be contributing financially to my family again.
Like everywhere in America, it's hot here. So hot that I don't want to be outside at all. We have a pretty great blow up pool (you know, pretty cool for blow up pool standards...) and I've been tempted to bust it out, but then I remember that I'll have to sit outside with the girls in the 400 degree heat. No thanks! We're starting to get cabin fever, so I know something needs to change, I just can't bring myself to go outside.
Speaking of cabins. We went to Josh's family cabin over the weekend. It was mostly fun, but also stressful because the girls hardly slept. We got somewhere between 4-5 hours and it made for four very grumpy Mangelsons (but mostly a grumpy mama).
We're potty training over here. It's going surprisingly well. I've attempted 3 or so other times in recent months and it's failed miserably. We bought the girls underwear from movies they actually watch so consequently, we have a lot of boy underwear at our house. Why do they only make girl underwear with princesses, fairies and other characters that my kids don't like? They love their Buzz, Woody, Monsters Inc, Incredibles and Cars underwear though! We've pretty much got it mastered at home, but I haven't really attempted it beyond that. We have a little seat that goes on top of the big toilet that Lillian will go on, but Sophie isn't a fan. I'm not sure how to actually get them on a real, non toddler adapted toilet. I tried this last week at church and someone in the stall next to us started laughing at us... But for the most part, we've made HUGE progress and usually only use 4-6 diapers a day (nap time, if we go out and at bed time).
My little sister is going on a mission this October. I'm starting to get angry about it (yes, angry) because that means I won't get to see her for an entire year and a half!! I think I'm still in denial about it and will be until months after she leaves. She'll just be a few states away (ok, several states away) but it may as well be the other side of the world. I am really happy for her, but selfishly, I'm very unhappy.
The girls are talking a lot more. It's fun to see their different personalities really develop. They've always been completely different from each other, now that they're communicating better, it's really apparent. I'll have to do an updated post for each of them soon because there's SO much to say about them...
And now I'll leave you with a couple pictures because I know that's why you all check this thing anyway. ;)
Here's to posting more in July!
