Love me a giveaway

One of my favorite photographers to creep on is having a giveaway here. I would say check it out and enter, but that diminishes my chances of winning so....yeah.... ;)

Jack

I'm not sure why I've never blogged about my sister's dog before. He's basically the most adorable dog in the universe AND he's being a pirate for Halloween! Hilarious?
Absolutely.

Also, stay tuned for a giveaway from my sister. She's in the process of starting a website for her AMAZING interior design skills as well as some crafting on the side. It might be another month or two before it all gets rolling, but know that great things are coming very, very soon.

Sisters

This post brought tears to my eyes this morning. I can't wait for my girls to be best friends. They already are so interested in each other, but their interactions are obviously limited. I always wanted a twin (who hasn't?)
And these babies have one.
I can't wait until they really realize that.

But then again, maybe they already do.

I've been on a blogging roll lately. I blame it on my lack of desire to unpack. Enjoy.

Is there anything cuter

...than a baby in a hoodie?

I submit that there is not. Well, I guess I could argue that two babies are twice as cute.

And yes, Lillian is technically wearing a boy's hoodie. Who says baby girls can't wear brown with a hint of blue? She was wearing this one day with a pink shirt on and a lady thought she was a boy. I guess that's what I get for buying clothes in the boy's department.

I keep meaning to finish the blessing post, but I've got a lot to do and a lot of adorable pictures I'd like to share, so who knows if I'll ever write about the blessing. The post is about half way done, but I really don't want to finish it. Sooooo....we'll see. :)

40 cent formula

I'm so happy about this that not only is it my current facebook status, but I had to blog about it too. Today, we got $104 worth of formula for $5. The ready-feed Similac was on sale at Smith's and we had a bunch of $5 coupons. Soooooo, what should have cost almost $8 a bottle, we got for 40 cents a bottle. If you've been around me lately (i.e. Brooke, Lacy, Kelsey and Fro) you know how much I LOVE getting cheap/free formula. I figure it's the mother nature's way of say, "Brittany, it's ok that you're no longer nursing two babies. You gave it your all and lasted 2 1/2 months. Here's a bunch of coupons and samples to make you feel happy."
Well guess what?
I do feel happy.
But, you wanna know what's crazy? My babies could go through this much formula in about a week. See why I like getting it for cheap? Coupons are saving our lives and for that, I am grateful.

p.s. Similac is doing crazy things as far as image repair goes in light of the recent recall. I'm ok with it because I've gotten $75 worth of coupons and none of the formula we use was even involved with the recall. Oh happy day!

p.p.s. That's our second awesome Smith's couponing experience of the week. When we first moved in, we went to the store with our coupons and left with $138 worth of food that we paid $69 for. AND they gave me a coupon for a free can of formula!

Thank you Smith's for being far superior to any other grocery store.

2 month stats

Sophie Lynn
Weight: 9 pounds 8 oz
16th percentile
Length: 22 inches
32th percentile
Head circumference: 37 cm
8th percentile

Sophie is our emotional baby. She can go from the biggest smile in the world, to a heart stopping scream in the blink of an eye. She is obsessed with ceiling fans and loves being outside. She likes to sit up more than laying down and she holds her head up like a champ. She loves the Bumbo and loves being the center of attention. Sophie loves bath time, but cries and cries when it's time to get out. She HATES tummy time and will scream herself to sleep when I make her do it. She still fits into some newborn clothes, but has finally graduated to 0-3 month clothes. Her smile is the most precious thing in the world and her grumpy face is hysterical. She's already a great big sister (that's a post for another day) and we think she's the greatest.

Lillian Jean
Weight: 9 pounds 9 oz
17th percentile
Length: 22 inches
32th percentile
Head circumference: 36 1/2 cm
3rd percentile

Lillian is the passive baby. You have to work harder for her smiles, but you also have to do a lot more to get her to cry (not that we do things to get her to cry...that sounded wrong). She's quite a talker and loves to hear her voice. She doesn't like sitting up as much as her older sis, but loves laying on my legs and swaying back and forth. She loves kicking her legs at bath time and doesn't mind so much when it's time to get out. She gets mad when she hiccups but LOVES her Binky. She is definitely a daddy's girl and lights up when he walks into the room. She loves cuddling up to him at night and has the biggest blue eyes I've ever seen. She is a doll and I love her sweet little personality.

Looking at the stats, one would be tempted to say how little the babies are. However, their doctor said that compared to other preemie babies, he'd put them in the 80th percentile for weight and height. I'm thinking our girls will catch up and even soar above (literally) other kids soon in the height area considering their father is 6'5.

It's still hard to believe that we are actually the parents of twin girls, but we are loving every minute of it. (well, most minutes...) They're sleeping for 6 hours at night and I'm starting to feel less zombie-like. We still have yet to make a public outing without getting stopped and it seems like our entire identities have become these little girls. I think I'm ok with it though, because they're just that great.

p.s. do you see the awesome Muppets blanket the girls are on? Thanks to my friend, Jenny, they are on the pathway to becoming their mother. :)
p.p.s. This was taken in our new apartment. Don't mind the mess. Unpacking with two little babies might just be the nuttiest thing I've ever done.

A list of happenings and thoughts

  • We no longer live in Logan.
  • I was recently reminded of how much I hate change.
  • We are planning on staying in this apartment until we are ready to buy a house.
  • I haven't read any blogs in almost a week and although it drove me nuts, I survived.
  • I hate not knowing where anything is (in and out of my apartment).
  • I'm pretty sure I'm closing the door on the lactation department and don't feel bad about it.
  • I'm amazed at how great our friends are. (In Logan and the rest of the state)
  • I didn't realize how sad people in our ward would be to see our babies leave.
  • To say we LOVE our new apartment is an understatement.
  • We're looking forward to being closer to family and our SLC/UT country friends.
  • The babies continue to be adorable.
and....
  • I don't think I understand Glee.
Yep, that's what on my mind. And here's a picture of my beautiful baby girls.

Oh what two months can do.

Two months ago Sophie looked like this:

She now looks like this:

Can someone please tell me where where my tiny babies went?
{Thankfully, I'm glad their jaundice went away. Look how yellow that kid was!!!}

p.s. I hate moving. Packing, cleaning, all of it. Sorry I haven't delivered the promised posts. They'll be coming...someday...

Our big news

Wanna hear the craziest part? We're moving Monday. Yep, insane. I've got crazy mixed feelings about it. Remember how much I love Cache Valley? I do. A lot. It's our home. I honestly can picture myself staying here for the long haul and raising our kids here, but as of now, that isn't in the cards for us. I am excited about the move though. We wont exactly be in Salt Lake, but still only a few minutes away from down town. I wont tell you exactly where because you could be a murderer and I hate murderers. However, I will tell you that we'll be 15 minutes away from 4 malls, 2 In-N-Outs, two of my best friends (holla at ur gurlz) way closer to both sides of the family, we'll have a pool, a fitness center (maybe I will actually loose this baby gut I've still got going) and we're in a brand NEW apartment. Yep, we're the first people to live in it! Not to mention Josh got a job that pays more than $10 an hour and it's a job that's definitely more of a career.

So, all in all I am happy. However, it does break my heart to leave this valley. Honestly, Cache Valley feels more like home to me than anywhere else. I love the ward we're in. I love the people I work with (participants and staff). I love that it's got a small town feel without being too small. I love Utah State. I love that I met Josh here. I love that we had our daughters here. I love that we've made this little apartment our home for the past few years. I love it all and am very sad to leave it.

We've (well I) have a list of things to do before we take off. Some of them include...

*The pumpkin walk
*Eat at Fredrico's (we might just have to do that a few times...)
*Go on the Logan river trail at least one more time
*Visit/say farewell to the people I work with
*Go to the Logan temple

The past few days have been crazy. We've went to Salt Lake on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and today. I was SO happy to actually find a livable place. We quickly realized that you get WAY more for you dollar in Logan than you do in Salt Lake. Our rent here isn't even $500 and that basically gets you a closet with graffiti down there. We had to up our budget by a few hundred dollars, but we finally found a place where I didn't feel like I had to carry a machete with me at all times. I'll definitely post pics when we get settled in and you are all invited to come swim in the pool (next summer of course) or hop on the elliptical with me.

And now that I've written a novel, I must leave you to pack. Because did I mention that we move in 5 days and we haven't packed a thing? Not a single thing.
Yeah, crazy.

Buuuuut, I'll leave you with a funny. Oh how I love my girls.

OH! Speaking of the girls, they went to the Pediatrician yesterday and we found out their stats. Wanna know? Tune in next time for that and some adorable pictures of their blessing day.

One last thing and then I swear I gotta go pack. I've got a little clue to exactly where we'll be. Can anyone recite the Shane Company commercial??? ;)

10.11.2010

Just one for now

The babies were blessed yesterday. It was a fantastic day filled with family, friends, and food. I'll write more about it and give you guys the deets on our big (insane, stressful, exciting, sad, super cool) announcement tomorrow night. For now, here's my favorite picture from yesterday. As you can see, being passed around by so many people who love them wore the girls out.

Don't worry, their diapers really that tight on them. I think it's just the way she's laying that makes her chub sag over. (She'll love that description when she's older...) I'm just glad she's actually got chub! When you've got a 4 lbs 15 oz baby, 'chub' is not a word you think you'll ever use.

Oh, and did you check out that awesome quilt she's on? They've got matching quilts courtesy of the amazing Jessie and my fabulous sister Brooke.

One last thing, the babies are 9 weeks old today. Mind completely blown. They go to the doc's tomorrow. I'm terrified. Bring on the shots. :( I project that I have two very cranky daughters tomorrow. Looking forward to it?
Not.at.all.

10.06.2010

A whole bunch of random.

Have you read this blog? If not, you should. It makes me so happy that it often leaves me in tears.

My old roommate Paige came to visit today. Paige has a little boy, bear, who I instantly fell in love with. We had 3 babies in my small little living room and didn't have any meltdowns at all. Talk about a miracle. It was really nice to catch up with a friend and talk about how crazy being a new mom is. I'm SOOOO sad I didn't take a picture of the kids, but I guess that just means there has to be a next time. Bear is 2 1/2 weeks younger than the twins, but is a LOT bigger. He was adorable and again, I'm super bummed we didn't get a pic.

I'll leave you with some adorable pictures of the little ladies because let's face it, that's why you people show up at my blog, right? ;)

Lillian Jean

Sophie Lynn

Apparently, there was something cooler going on to my right...

And that's a wrap. However, stay tuned because there's big news coming from our house soon. And no, I am not pregnant again. I think I'd experience cardiac arrest if that were to happen right now.

10.04.2010

The drama begins. :)

The babies are 8 weeks old today. Sometimes I still get shocked when I walk into their nursery and see 4 little eyes staring at me. It's the greatest thing in the world. Anyways, in the process of taking the pictures I used in yesterday's post, I caught their first "fight". Take a look.

Lillian (brown) and Sophie (pink) started out the photo shoot happy and observant.

Sophie wound up her arm

Then went in for the hit

Lillian squealed while Sophie got distracted by the dryer. She might be the older baby by two minutes, but Lilly has always been bigger, so Sophie needs to watch her back...

Lillian wasn't quick to forgive.
(Totally kidding. This face was caused by me trying to get her to smile. Hilariously ironic, right? I laughed for about an hour straight. )

The babies continue to be a lot of fun, but a lot of work. A few nights ago, they both cried nonstop for about 3 hours straight. The only way I could sort of calm them down was to hold and bounce them both. So I paced the apartment holding two screaming babies for about almost an hour. I thought about calling someone for reinforcements, but most of my friends have babies themselves, or have work early in the morning. Plus, I haven't bugged anyone for help yet and I didn't want to start. Luckily though, this weekend we got them gas drops and that seems to do the trick (I'm telling ya, these ladies have some MAJOR gas issues). Another 'luckily' we can add to the list is the past two days they've been sleeping 6 hours at night. You have no idea how good 6 hours of sleep feels when you're used to 2. It's heaven. So, things are looking up and as they get older they're getting more awake and even more adorable.

I still have a bajillion posts in the making. We made the first overnight trip this weekend in honor of general conference and I was absolutely shocked at how successful it was. I may have been a zombie, but the girls loved being held by the dozens of people we saw and they loved being with both sets of grandparents. I realized fully how much our families love these babies. We didn't even need to bring the bouncy seats other than for sleeping because they were held the entire time. It was a nice break for me (slight confession there) to have so many people willing and excited to hold and play with them. Josh and I even got to go on a 'date' to In-N-Out for about 20 minutes on Saturday night. Talk about awesome.

Their two month appointment isn't until the 12th, so we still have no idea how much they weigh. However, I'm guessing somewhere in the 8lb range. That's a total guess though. All I know, is they aren't my tiny little babies anymore. They are turning into little tanks with fat rolls on their legs. I NEVER thought that day would come. :)

and one more time, I'll leave you with this fantastic picture of Lilly,
Hilarious.

And if you didn't catch the post from yesterday, check it out. I'm starting to tell people they're identical because people have started arguing (in a friendly way) with me over it.

10.03.2010

Guess who?

Either these girls are identical or they're fraternal that look a ridiculously alike. Lately though, I'm leaning towards the first option. Good thing their belly buttons are different.

Yes, I know there's eye goobers in the first kid's eye (can you tell which one she is?). It's a constant battle to keep their little eyes gunk free.

10.01.2010

I've never has an over amount of school spirit but...

It's nights like this that I love the Aggies. Not only do I love Utah State, but I love this little valley. I mean, I was born and raised in Provo and although it's a nice place, it doesn't compare to the feeling you get in in Cache Valley. It took me a while to discover it, but now that I have I never want to leave (although we probably will eventually). No matter where we end up, I'll always love the spot where the sagebrush grows!

And I love how a 30 seconds after the game ended, I had dozens of friends update their facebook status' with USU pride. :)
