Things that have been on my mind

I'm ready for fall. I'm ready for pumpkin patches, pumpkins walks, fruit stands, leaves falling (although I'd appreciate this more if we lived in an area with mature trees) sweaters, hot chocolate and chilly weather. I made a mental fall bucket list and I'm excited to get going on it. I love, love, love this time of year.

We find out what this baby is in a little over two weeks. Or in other words, this pregnancy is flying by. Well, that and my clinic does gender checks starting at 15 weeks. We're excited and I'm crossing my fingers for a boy, but if it's a girl, we're definitely prepared.

I need to get better at time management. I've been trying to be better and before I got pregnant, I actually felt like I was getting in a routine, but now I have no energy and have completely fallen off the wagon.

The girls are talking a lot more. Even just a month ago, I was convinced that they would need speech, but now I'm not so sure. They've started asking questions and making observations frequently and as much as it annoys me to answer "what's that mom?" when we're driving by TWO kids at once, I try my best. Usually I spout off everything we pass, a school bus, a barn, a radio tower, a truck, a bicycle, a house, a cloud, the sun, IKEA etc, etc until something satisfies them or they move on to something else.

Our 5th anniversary is coming up and I want to do something awesome. And by awesome, I mean something reasonable for a 7 1/2 month pregnant woman can do. We thought about flying to San Fransisco and while that's not completely off the table, it's probably not likely. There's a chance we'll do our standard Las Vegas vacation and I'm good with that. For a couple of non drinking, non strip show attending people, we manage to find a lot of things to do.

I've become addicted to HGTV. House hunting is mostly what intrigues me. It's amazing what money can buy you in different parts of the country. After watching an episode with Josh yesterday, I'm kind of shocked we are uprooting and moving to Georgia. Money goes faaaar in Georgia apparently.

Potty training is going pretty well. I say that meaning our system is going well. I've read all about the 3 day potty training system and gave it a go and failed. And failed. And failed another time. It just didn't work for my kids. We've taken a laid back approach and although it's taken several months, we've hardly had any accidents and the girls are mostly trained. They still wear pullups when we go out, but they usually come back dry. They often wake up dry and I think we're on our last (and second) box of pullups.

I'm going to Florida in a few weeks to visit my grandma. My sisters and aunt are going and it's kind of last hurrah before my little sister goes on a mission for our church.  I'm excited, nervous, sad and happy about it all. It should be a good trip, but it's probably the last time I'll see my grandma, so I want to make the absolute best of it. I feel bad that I'm leaving Josh and the girls, but I'm sure they'll survive without me. ;) Until then, I need to get ahead of my school work and I figured out what that means. It's not pretty. 4 quizzes, several assignments and an exam... SOS?

The girls had their 3 year old checkup yesterday. It went surprisingly well and was very uneventful. We learned that Lillian is 2 pounds heavier and a smidge or two taller than Sophie. The doctor wasn't too concerned about their speech, which was good news to me, but she did say we could get them tested through the school districts if we wanted to.

And just because I know everybody likes a picture. Here's the girls while eating their breakfast this morning. Notice that Lillian was in less natural lighting than Sophie kid. Sorry Lilly, your skin resembles a sea monster and your mother is far too lazy to get into photoshop to fix it.
