This week has been awesome. I'm being a little bit sarcastic, but mostly genuine in saying that.
(I should mention that this ended up being much more wordy than anticipated. Not sure if I'm sorry about that, but I'm definitely not sorry that I didn't proof-read any of it. Who has time for that, really?)
It started on Sunday when my girls were terrible at church. Like horrible at church, so we took them home. I went to one hour while Josh took them home and then we switched. During that time, I got a text from Becky saying something like, "I feel like I'm going to murder my children and need to be around other twin parents. Do you guys want to come for dinner?" and I said, "YES! I want to murder my children too! We'll be there and we'll bring pie."
So we did. We went and we brought pie (A delicious peanut butter pie made by my pie making husband) And we talked about how twins are hard and how we're both (Becky and I) are scared, yet excited to have a single baby someday (and that wasn't an announcement...for either of us...) and how we have NO CLUE how easy one baby in the middle of the night is. How you only have to change one diaper, make one bottle (or breastfeed one baby), swaddle one baby and that's IT! So, our confidence was boosted a little and together we thought, "Yeah! 3 kids, what?? We can totally do that!" (and before you get your hopes up, I'm still terrified...)
Anyway... We decided that we were going to go to Wheeler Farm. So we did. And it was awesome. There were 4 moms, 6 kids and lots and lots of poop.
A few days later, we went to the zoo with friends in our neighborhood. It was hot. It was packed. I was a fool and didn't bring the stroller (you know, that stroller that the girls have refused to sit in for the past year?) We got there at the start of nap time and they were NOT happy. I was stressed, they were running (which was NOT cool because I have a possibly broken {or at least really bruised and sore} toe) and I almost went and sat in the car. From there, I would have called Becky and complained that having twins sucks, but then the girls took notice of these little green wagons that parents were pulling their kids in. They wanted to get in the wagons, so I decided we were renting one. I didn't care if they were $20, we were getting a damn wagon. So, we made the trek to the oooooooooooother end of the zoo and by the time we were almost there, my girls had HAD it. Both of them were literally lying on the ground screaming and blocking the way for the 6,468 strollers that were there. One of the strollers was carrying twins. The mom asked if I wanted to use theirs since it was a zoo rental and they were on their way to return it. I'm pretty sure I was *this* close to tears and all I could muster was a pathetic little "yes." She said that it was mine for the taking and that she hoped it would help my tired girls. And it did!
The girls in their "wagon". Not quite what I they were wanting, but we went with it.
They were really obsessed with the gorilla's nipples...
Don't mind the yogurt all over Lillian's pants... Lunch at the zoo proved to be a little tricky.
Life with two 2 year olds is crazy, but I'm increasingly grateful for this warmer weather so we can get outside and do things. I'm also grateful that I'm friends with cabin fevered stay at home moms and that we're all desperate (and crazy) enough to go out and do things. Getting out of the house is always SO much better than staying at home, especially when Josh is sleeping off grave shifts like this week.
