A whole bunch of random

So, I think my keys are gone for good. We've checked everywhere in this house. I might take the girls on a walk today to the roundabout by our house and see if they fell off there, but I know I shouldn't get my hopes up. And remember how I said it wasn't that big of deal? We thought we could just go get a copy made for a few bucks, but it turns out we can't. We went to Walmart (*sigh* that store is just so convenient for where we live...) and the guy older guy (probably 50's...sorry mom...that's a little bit old...) informed us that there is a computer chip in our key and we needed to take it to the dealer. UGH. The dealer is over an hour away and I've heard those things are anywhere from $70-$300 to replace. (insert angry face) I was mostly annoyed because when I asked why they were making keys with computer chips in them now, the guy looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "To start your car." Thanks Walmart man for getting this 23 year old into the 21st century. Really though, a computer chip in a key? Ridiculous. So now we're just sharing the one other key we have. I'm terrified to lose it though, so it's pinned to our bulletin board.

What bugs me the most is that I have no recollection of what happened. We were at home and I wanted to clean up the car seats a bit and adjust the strap. The car was in the garage, but it was strangely locked. Neither Josh or I ever lock the car if it's in the garage because the power locks stopped working a few months ago, so you have to arch your back and do it by hand (unless you're getting babies out), but we don't. We never lock it, and we have no idea how the car got locked that day. When I noticed it was locked, I mentioned it to Josh and he noted how weird it was. I went and grabbed my keys from my diaper bag and unlocked it (which entails starting the car and throwing it into reverse and then back in park). The pants I was wearing didn't have pockets, so I threw the keys on top of the car. I spent 5 minutes inside the car and then I have no idea what happened. We did yard work (and by yard work, I mean move around some dirt and rocks) right after that, but I don't remember if I grabbed the keys first or not. ANNOYING.

I have about 5 spots where I always put my keys. Of course I've checked those spots multiple time as well as every other square inch of this house. I've checked the garbage disposal, the trash cans, the refrigerator, etc. I think I must have left them on the car and then we drove away with them a few hours later. How stupid is that? Once again, UGH.

Anyway, I don't think anyone cares to know what happened to our keys, but I'm hoping that when we find them (and that's a big hope) you'll realize how happy I am. I just wish that you could call them or something like you can a phone. That they would start singing or buzzing, or flashing or something. Sigh... I guess it's time to take a trip to Bountiful.

In other news, I start school on Monday. Remember how I keep saying I'm crazy for not taking a break? Well, I still think I'm crazy, but I only have SIX classes until I graduate. Six. I'm sooo close. I'm getting two of them out of the way this semester and I'm taking the math placement test to hopefully test into Stats. Did I mention that I have to take two Stats classes and I've already failed Stats 1040 once? Bleh. It's going to be interesting...

And in other, other news, I've lost 9 lbs since we've moved here. That's pretty cool if I do say so myself. I'm still annoyed with myself for dropping the ball this winter and gaining a lot of my weight back. My weight is one thing that I can't blame the twins on. It's aaaaaaallllll me.

And if you're still reading this (although I don't suspect many are) or even if you're not, here are some pretty pictures I've recently found on Pinterest. It's definitely turned into my happy place.

  3. I feel your pain on losing your keys. I do it probably once a day. One time I lost for them about 11 months - and of course after I had replaced EVERY key and moved on, we found them hanging up in our church lost and found. Blerg.

Anyways - i've had this pinned on pinterest for a while and thought you might enjoy it.

  4. I lost my keys while we were on vacation last week and it's driving me CRAZY!! Especially since I pride myself on taking such good care of my stuff and knowing where everything is at all times (case in point--the keychain on my keys is the same one I've had since 8th grade). It shouldn't seem like a big deal. And of all the things to lose (cell phone, camera, wallet...) it seems like the least problematic and least expensive to replace (maybe.. darn computer chips), but even still it's taking up WAY more mental space in my life right now than it should. I keep going over and over every step and calling every place I might've been. Ugh.

  6. I just heard the other day that amazon is "renting" textbooks on the kindle for up to 80% off the cost of normal books. If you could get the 6 you will need there it might be worth buying a kindle?.
